Content: This critical period where the 6 to 9 year-old child moves from learning to read to reading to learn. In the elementary environment children practice decoding more complex words and reading fluently with comprehension. Content: As the sensitive period of language continues in the 3-6 year old child, we witness what Montessori called a reading and writing “explosion”. At WSM children are invited to experiment with materials that encourage the acquisition of literacy. Come learn about those materials and how you can support this growth at home.
