Financial Aid

The Financial Aid program was created to assist families with tuition in the form of need-based grants. The Financial Aid Committee is dedicated to awarding these funds to as many eligible families as possible who desire an authentic Montessori education for their children.

WSM now accepts the Opportunity Scholarship for grades K through 9!

As of March 18, 2024, the financial aid funds for the 2024 – 2025 school year have been awarded.

Financial Aid Applications for the 2025 - 2026 school year will open February 2025.

  1. Submit an Inquiry

The first step in the financial aid process is to submit an inquiry to the Director of Admissions, Tracy Carr

2. Fill out an Admissions Application

The application includes a non-refundable $75 application fee. Applications are available year-round. The application will be accessible once an inquiry has been submitted and processed.

3. Submit a Grant Application

Once an inquiry and application are received, the next step is to submit a financial aid application.

Families seeking financial aid must file an application through the Grant & Aid platform in Blackbaud. Blackbaud provides the Winston-Salem Montessori School with a need-based financial aid analysis service that ensures our process for establishing financial needs adheres to nationally established best practice standards. Submission of the financial aid application requires a non-refundable $35 application fee.

After completing the online application, you will be required to submit your current tax returns for both State and Federal taxes with all schedules and W-2’s.

FAQs

  • Deadline for submittal is midnight, February 10th. This date is flexible for new families. It is encouraged to apply as soon as you are able.

Distributions are determined yearly in February for the following academic year, however, some funds are reserved for rolling admission needs. This is based on the number of applicants and the amount of money that the school has allocated for aid.

  • The charge for the application is $40 to be paid by credit card at the end of the session. Because financial aid funds are limited, and demand is high, late filing of materials will result in non-renewal of a financial aid grant.

  • Within 7 days you must accept the award and pay the tuition deposit to secure your child’s placement for the school year. If you do not accept the award and pay the tuition deposit within 7 days of notification, the award offer will expire and the funds will be awarded to another family.

  • Financial Aid grants are awarded for one year only and, therefore, you must reapply each year. If this is the first year that you are applying, you will need to create a new account even if you have a FACTS account already established. You may use the same login and password though.

  • The financial aid allocation is decided by the Financial Aid Committee and the Head of School. The Parents’ Financial Aid Statement and results are considered private and confidential information by The Winston-Salem Montessori School. The information is used only to determine your families need for assistance in offsetting the cost of tuition.

WSM treats financial assistance requests confidentially. It is expected that students and their families will do the same.
