How did you discover Montessori?

When my son (now 18) was younger, I was trying to find a philosophy that fit my parenting style and would improve how I raised him. I found out about Montessori from a friend; however, we didn't have a school available where we lived. I learned as much as I could about the principle and methods and implemented them into our home.

Why do you love being on the WSM Board?

We do important work. I love being a part of a group of people who are passionate about making WSM the best school we can, with the best outcomes for our families. The work of the board allows me to bring many of my strengths in business and the nonprofit world with my love of Montessori education.

What about WSM attracted you to the school?

There is a lot of positive activities happening at WSM and I'm excited to be a part of them. I love the campus and how there's a focus on nature bridged with learning. Everyone I have met has been helpful in teaching me to be a better Montessori parent and board member.

What is a fun fact/interest/hobby you’d like to share?

I love the outdoors! I spend my free time geocaching, hiking, backpacking, and trying to learn more about the natural world. I stop often in my hikes to examine plants, fungus, insects, animals, and anything that catches my interest.
